A Class Eight pupil has been charged with stealing his teacher’s cell phone valued at Ksh.13,000 and Ksh700 in Siaya.

Alvin Ogola appeared before Siaya Principal Magistrate’s Court Tom Olando on Wednesday.

The court heard that on February 16, 2019, the pupil allegedly stole a Techno T40 phone and the money from his teacher Albert Agunda.

The incident allegedly occurred at the farm in Aluny Primary School in Umala sub-location, Alego sub-county.

Kennedy Ogola, the child’s father, told the magistrate that his son had confided in him that he indeed took the phone and hid it in a nearby bush.

Mr. Ogola said he found the phone where his son had told him but pleaded for leniency.
