Administration Police Constable Silas Kemboi was on Tuesday charged with the murder of Nicholas Koros in Narok County.
The AP appeared before Narok Senior Principal Magistrate Tito Gesora, for allegedly shooting Mr Koros to death on September 17, 2018 at Ol-Mekenyu Trading Centre in Narok West. While on duty.
The court heard that he allegedly went to arrest Mr. Koros at his home after his (Koros’) girlfriend lodged a complaint against him. The deceased, however, reportedly resisted arrest during which the officer shot and killed him.
The officer was initially charged with murder but the charge was later reduced to manslaughter which faces a penalty of up to life imprisonment.
He denied the charges and was released on a bond of Sh150,000 with one surety of a similar amount or a cash bail of Sh100,000.
