Mourners in Kakamega were on Sunday treated to a rare spectacle when an old woman interrupted Deputy President William Ruto
The unidentified elderly woman caused a stir during the burial of mother to Majority Whip Benjamin Washiali in Mumias by blocking Ruto.
Security details of the DP were caught off guard as the woman pounced on the country’s second in command, crying loudly as mourners shifted the attention to her for about five minutes.
In her statement, the lady accused a senior politician from the region of allegedly grabbing her land, urging Deputy President William Ruto to intervene and have her reclaim the prime property.
But irked by the approach, the DP, who all this time remained sandwiched by the elderly woman, ignored her and proceeded to the main dais to mourn the bereaved family.
However, the determined lady booked an appointment with the DP later on through Sports Cabinets Secretary Rashid Echesa, who easily secured her one on one with Ruto.
The two would be pictured having a long talk after the funeral but details of what they discussed remain scanty. She later happily shook the hands of the DP.
