‘Kenya to host French president for the first time next month’-Uhuru confirms.

The details sorrounding French President Emmanuel Macron’s upcoming visit to Kenya were on Monday outlined by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

In a statement from State House, President Uhuru outlined that the visit would deepen existing bilateral relations between the two states.

“Traditionally, Kenya and France enjoy strong bilateral ties and I am pleased that we’ve continued to deepen the relations. I look forward to the visit by President Macron,” the president stated.

The statement further stated: “The proposed rapid transit train service between Nairobi Central Business District and the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport is among projects expected to feature prominently when President Kenyatta hosts the French leader in Nairobi.”

It was confirmed on Monday that the French President will visit the country by French Ambassador Aline Kuster-Menager when she paid a courtesy call on President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi.

The dates are yet to be confirmed but it is speculated that President Macron will be in the country for two days. The visit will be the French president’s first to Kenya following a high-profile tour of West Africa in 2018.

The aim of President Macron is increasing France’s global influence beginning with Africa, specifically but not limited to redefining relationships with former French colonies.
