“Focus on Development!” Ruto Asks leaders to shun from Referendum Talk

Deputy President William Ruto has asked leaders to shelve premature debates on referendum to amend the Constitution and focus on development and creating jobs for the youth.

He said leaders should use their time and energy on development projects that can uplift the lives of Kenyans.

Speaking at Christ is the King, Amalemba Catholic Parish in Kakamega County, on Sunday; Dr Ruto said Kenyans want leaders to implement the development projects they promised during the last General Election.

He asked leaders to find ways to have more youths get jobs instead of wasting time in agitating for positions in the leadership hierarchy.

“There is no shortage of positions in Kenya. What exists is shortage of job opportunities for Kenyans which can be addressed through implementation of the Big Four agenda,” said Dr Ruto.

He went on: “Debates on positions and elections should not be there. We have no time to waste on debates that have no impact on the lives of Kenyans. This is an opportunity for us to focus on development.”
