Paul Pogba was sent off in the closing stages of the Paris Saint Germain game for a late studs-up tackle on Dani Alves, a yellow card as apparent as they come. Unfortunately, he had already been booked previously.

The away leg was always going to be tough but without Pogba and 2-0 down, United would have to come up with a truly ingenious plan to progress in the Champions League. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has nothing to blame the Frenchman for. The Norwegian said on the issue, quoted by the MEN:

“I know what his intentions were. He was trying to shield the ball, but he can look on VAR or TV like it’s a challenge, but Paul is one of them who uses his body really well.

“He’s unlucky to [be fair to] him there. For me, it’s one of his strengths to shield players off and get away from people. I’ve been speaking to him about how we move on from this.”

In fact, the midfielder seemed to be the one most disappointed at himself after the episode. According to a report in the Sun, a mediocre British source, an enraged Paul Pogba allegedly thumped a locker in United’s dressing room following his red card. However, after the 25-year-old has cooled down, he immediately apologised to his United teammates.

Anyway, unfortunately for United, the Frenchman won’t be involved in yet another key battle for his team.
