She definately didn’t get a MEMO! Charity Ngilu stranded in a polling station in Nigeria

The most awaited Nigeria’s election has been postponed for one week to 23rd February by the electoral commission.

The concern by the commission was to ensure there was a free and fair election. The country had dignitaries from African countries and internationally who went to observe the process. Among them was Kitui Governor, Charity Kaluki Ngilu.

The elections were canceled at around 2 am without Ngilu’s consent who had arrived at a polling station. She was shocked by the incident and took to social media to shame the electoral body.

The case of postponing elections has increased to three, this is after the country’s presidential elections in 2011 and 2015  delayed over logistics and security issues.

The agitated Charity Ngilu posted on her Facebook page how shocked she was on reaching the polling station;

“Ready at 6 am for our observer mission but alas! the Election was postponed at 2 am! 5 hours to the opening of the polling stations. Really sad for Nigeria and democracy in Africa,” she shared.

Ngilu is yet to decide whether to come home or wait for the election.
