Nigerian Singer Mr Flavour has spoken about his major challenge when he started out his music career.
Mr Flavour says that his family did not believe in his talent and it took time before he proved to them that it was worth it.
The Singer explains saying that in the African setting most parents are not enlightened and therefore this serves as a big setback for most of the African youth who wish to pursue their talent.
From his personal experience, he says that his mother did not understand the concept or what it really means to be a musician.
Speaking to Citizen TV, Mr Flavour said that his mother had the mentality that music is associated with men who have crazy lifestyles and womanizers.
Mr Flavour convinced his mother that he wanted to make a difference in the industry through his music and she still did not support him until he proved it by his actions.
To parents who restrict their children not to pursue their talents, Mr Flavour says that young people need to understand that if parents do not like something, it does not mean they do not like you.
Parents always want to understand what their children are doing and it is therefore important to make a mark with the talent so that people may believe.
Mr Flavour urged the talented youth to focus their energy and find strength from even the little support that is offered to them.
