You will not believe how angered bees have led to loss of property

Residents of Gitaru, Kikuyu, Kiambu County have ben left in a shock after a swarm of bees has led to loss of property worth millions. A tyre was lit to chase away bees but the fire which lasted for seven hours ended up burning down property.

The bees are said to have taken refuge in a tree near one of the residents premises which made him lit a tyre to chase them away. The fire spread so fast to a hardware store next a petrol station and later spread to an adjacent residential flats, engulfing the entire topmost floor.

A witness says; ”I had just arrived from work and was about to cross the road when I heard a loud explosion from inside the hardware store and what followed was a huge fire.” Another matatu owner whose vehicle was rescued from the scene says; ”We had just had supper and were settling in to watch the 9pm news when my husband received a call informing him to hurry and go remove his matatu from the parking before it got burnt.”

The residents’ efforts to put off the fire using soil and water didn’t help. Nobody was hurt during the incidence. Later on, the fire brigade arrived and battled the fire for more than two hours.

To avoid such a tragedy, there are other ways to chase away bees such as; Using cucumber peel from specific, small areas. For example, you may begin to open your doors and windows to let in the nice, warm air. But if bees decide to let themselves in as well, you may want to consider taking bits of cucumber peel and setting them out on or by your window frames.

Bees avoid the smell of peppermint in the areas and plants they hang around. If you put peppermint plants outside or around your house, they will avoid the plants and, by default, your house. If you chop up garlic and soak it in water for a few days, it will also make a great bee repellent if you set it up around your plants or places where humans frequent outdoors.
