Chelsea want to bring in former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane to replace Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge with the Blues’ boardroom only left to decide whether they should make that move now or let Sarri see out the season.

Sarri’s job was at risk after a 6-0 mauling at the hands of title chasing Manchester City which is the club’s worst defeat in the Roman Abramovich era, one that has prompted the club to scour the globe for a potential new head coach, a search that has led them to Zidane.

The 46-year-old is currently not in management after he resigned as Real boss after leading them to three successive Champions League titles last summer and is understood to be very keen on a job in the Premier League.

However, a number of pundits believe that Zidane is not the right man for the Blue’s.

Despite the successful era at Real, the values and style of play of the two clubs is totally different.

While speaking to talkSPORT, former Rangers and Scotland striker Ally McCoist alludes, “Zidane had fantastic success at Real Madrid, but it’s a completely different club with different values to Chelsea.”

“Real Madrid’s supporters have been dealt a brand of football that is absolutely all-out attack, whether that’s [Cristiano] Ronaldo, [Karim] Benzema, [Gareth] Bale, all these guys whereas Chelsea are certainly different.

“So I’m not sure if it’s a great fit to be honest.”

Several Chelsea fans also believe that Zidane would be a bad appointment and wouldn’t work and that it will be madness doing the same thing and expecting a different out come.

Chelsea could face a battle for Zidane’s services with Manchester United still in the hunt for a permanent manager to replace Jose Mourinho, who was sacked in December.

There is yet another meeting with Pep Guardiola’s side with their next domestic fixture the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday February 24.
