The strenuous Wajir gubernatorial seat battle came to an eventful evening this Friday afternoon after the Supreme Court upheld the election of current Governor, Mr. Mohamed Abdi Mohamud.
Mr. Mohamud’s woes began at the High Court but later moved to the Court of Appeal, which fortunately for him, upheld the nullification of his election.
After this, he then proceeded to the apex court, which then gave him the opportunity to prove that he attained a degree and master’s degree in Business Management from Kampala University.
In the Friday ruling, Smoking Wanjala, Mohammed Ibrahim, Jackton Ojwang and Njoki Ndungu ruled in favour of the Governor, while justice Isaac Lenaola and Chief Justice David Maraga ruled against him.
While conveying the High Court judgement, Mr. Maraga noted that the appeal failed to have any merit and he would have gone on to dismiss it had the court ruled in favor of such an opinion.
Nevertheless, Netizens had mixed opinions regarding the ruling
Congratulations SC @NelsonHavi . Wajir County Celebrates you. FINALLY, Wajir County won.

The Supreme Court has awarded the Wajir governor @GovernorWajir a university degree.
It’s useless to struggle paying Hundreds of thousands per year to a university when you easily be awarded one by the Apex court.— Pan~African (@TEAMNASA_KE) February 15, 2019
The long court battle that bedeviled Wajir County is finally over.
The consequence of the judgement will be far reaching. Either the county coffers will dry up to the core or the Governor might resuscitate the county to save his dented image. @ahmednasirlaw @Asmali77— Abdirashid Abdullahi (@_abdirashid) February 15, 2019
