Sonko granted another chance to showcase his fake American accent

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is officially the only African leader selected to address the United Nations (UN) General Assembly scheduled for February 19, 2019.

The governor will lead Africa in the conference that will focus on the roles of cities in the global agenda and is set to take place in New York.

The Governor has expressed his optimism that the international event will come up with resolutions that will help cities, especially in the third world countries to develop a roadmap for sustainable development.

“I’m delighted to represent African Cities in the UN conference that’s aimed at addressing issues on sustainable development, food security, nutrition and climate change,” said Sonko after he officially received his invitation for the UN conference.

The event is organized jointly by the office of the President of the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly, Maria Fernanda Espinosa, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

“The purpose of the event is to address from the local perspective the need to privilege multilateral solutions to tackles challenges that are global in nature and to discuss how to implement international outcomes and solutions at the local level, bearing in mind the context and priorities of cities and local authorities,” stated Espinosa.

It also aims to give a voice to cities from around the world through the sharing of successful experience towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

She commented that the delegates will share experiences on addressing issues relating to climate change through innovative actions and the sustainability of consumption, production patterns, and food and healthy diets.

This comes months after the Governor was officially appointed as the Good Deeds ambassador by an Israel-based organization for his generosity in helping the needy.

The Governor was crowned as the Ambassador for a period of three years in a ceremony attended by Good Deeds Global Chief Executive officer Kaynan Rabino among other guests.

“My administration is ready to partner with the organization to host the Global Deeds Day on 7th of April in Nairobi,” stated Sonko confirming that Nairobi would host a major event organised by the global body.

Good Deeds Global is an internet-based social business and social movement organization structured around the ‘pay it forward’ and ‘good deeds’ concept.
