Migori MP: Obado wants to kill me over multi million Project

 Okoth Obado

Okoth Obado is the most famous governor in Kenya. Unfortunately, he is not known for good deeds. The governor is a suspect in the murder of his pregnant girlfriend Sharon Otieno and their unborn baby.

Sharon’s body was discovered in a thicket in Kodera forest in September last year. She had been gang raped and stabbed eight times. Obado was subsequently charged with the murder and spent more than one month in custody before being released on bail.

But as the prosecution date nears, Obado is at the centre of another serious storm in Migori. The governor has been accused of sending death threats to Kuria East MP Marwa Kitayama Maisori.

The MP claims that he and his wife have been threatened severally by a gang following his clash with the governor a fortnight ago.

“This issue has taken a new dimension and now the governor is using his cronies to threaten me. I have reported the matter to the DCI and I hope action will be taken,” said Mr Kitayama.

At the heart of the rivalry is a World Bank project aimed at upgrading towns in Migori County.

Mr Kitayama has led a group of Kuria politicians in protesting the selection of Migori, Awendo and Rongo as the beneficiaries of the Sh516 million project.

The politicians pointed out that neither of the major towns in Kuria Isibania and Kehancha, was included in the project.
