It is a sad day for a mother of two after she has been sentenced to death

Just after the former Ruaraka Police Station boss Nahashon Mutua was sentenced to death for torturing a suspect to death inside a cell, another woman has also been sentrenced to death for having killed her husband. Hellen Wambui of 37 years old has been found guilty before Narok High Court Judge Justice Justus Bwonong’a of shooting dead her Asian lover, Roy Ibrahim, in a drunken stupor inside their bedroom.

They both lived at Nkorinkori area in Narok South Sub County and had two children. She had earlier told the court that her boyfriend had shot himself after a disagreement. The 11 witnesses, three Criminal Investigating Officers, two cooks, medics, neighbor and a guard who appeared before the court gave clear testimony that found the young woman guilty.

An investigating officer, Samson Njoroge, has told the court that by the time he arrived in the deceased house, his body was lying in a pool of blood with a bullet on his chest and another on the blanket;”According to our investigations, the deceased had not shot himself because of the nature of the bullet that passed through the left side of the chest and existed above the buttocks.”

Paul Kiilu, another investigating officer said the house the couple was in had only one entrance and there were no signs that a third person would have entered the house to commit the crime. There was smoke in the house at the time he entered suggesting the crime had just been committed. Lawrence Kinyua, a government analyst, told the court that after the blood sample analysis, he found the DNA of the blood on the shirt, vest, seats, towel, caution were similar to the blood of the deceased.

Justice Bwononga has said that there is enough evidence to prove that Hellen shot her boyfriend. The firearm used was in good condition and was capable of being fired; ”I find you guilty of murder because you were an intelligent and untruthful witness. The prosecution has proved beyond reasonable doubt that you murdered your boyfriend hence I have found you guilty of murder.”

She has been given until 20th February  to allow the probation team to wind up their report before the final verdict is read.
