Floundering AFC Leopards bailed out

Cabinet Secretary for sports Rashid Echesa, on Thursday February 14, pledged Government for struggling AFC Leopards.

The CS, who is a Leopards fan met the clubs officials and stakeholders at his office today to address the challenges facing the former giant.

Echesa pledged to clear players accrued allowances “immediately.”

“I hosted AFC Leopards officials and stakeholders in my office for a consultative meeting to address the challenges that have been facing AFC Leopards which have led to the team’s dismal performance in the recent games.

The administrative and technical challenges have been addressed by the officials and stakeholders and my Ministry has pledged to bail out the team by paying the players all their accrued allowances immediately,” Echesa said in a statement.

Present during the meeting were, the permanent secretary in the ministry Joseph Kinyua, former players Abbas Mohammed, Dan Shikanda, Francis Xavier and Gor Mahia legend Bobby Ogola.

Noticeably absent was the club chairman Dan Mule.

Having lost four of their last Kenya Premier League matches, it is currently second from bottom in the table standings.

Recently, the club hired hired Rwandan coach Andre Cassa Mbungo after parting ways with Serbian Marko Vesilijevic.
