The Friday morning demolition operation caught traders on Aerodrome road by surprise and they did not have time to rescue their merchandises from their shops and just watched helplessly as the dozer machine destroyed everything completely.
Property and goods worth millions of shillings were reduced to rubble after bulldozers descended on business premises and buildings believed to have been erected on a Kenya Railways parcel of land near the Nyayo Stadium.
The heavy police presence at the scene in the morning operation affected traffic flow resulting in snarl-ups.
The traders complained saying they had been paying rent to the landlord and were given notice on any demolition as no eviction notice was served to them.
