It is almost five months since Sharon Otieno’s mutilated body was found in a thicket in Kodera forest. I know there have been several murder cases in recent times but I hope you’ve not forgotten about the cold blooded murder of a mother and her unborn child.

Sharon was gang-raped before being stabbed eight times, then her naked body thrown in Kodera forest near Oyugis. Her boyfriend, governor Okoth Obado and his two aides have since been charged with the brutal murder.

And as the day for the trial nears, Obado was back in court. This time he wants his bail conditions reviewed. The governor was released on bail in October last year.

But he now wants to be allowed to travel to Homa Bay and his passports returned to him. He says he cannot serve the whole county because of the restirctions.

“As a governor, my work involves travelling and shuttling mostly from Nairobi to Migori town.  But it is impracticable for me to effectively discharge my constitutional mandate as the governor,” he said.

Do you think Justice Jessie Lessit should allow Obado to travel to Homa Bay?
