Controversial details have emerged as a key Suspect in Carol Mwatha’s Case is a candidate for Deya’s Miracle Baby Scandal. Among the six suspects who were arrested after the body of Caroline Mwatha was found in City Mortuary is a repeat offender; Betty Akinyi.

The lady in question is facing a second trial after she had been jailed in 2005 over a scandal involving stolen babies.

Akinyi, the owner of the clinic known as ‘’New Njiru Clinic’’. where police claim a botched abortion by the human rights activist happened, helped register births of “miracle babies” who were stolen from their mothers.
At the time, she was believed to be a nurse and was operating a clinic called Gatheca Estate Nursing and Maternity home.

Akinyi pleaded guilty in helping controversial Bishop Gilbert Deya’s wife, Mary Deya, to register the births of the stolen babies, who were handed to infertile couples. Prison records show Akinyi served for six months at the Lang’ata women’s prison. Pastor Deya’s case is still pending in court

The other suspects are Michael Onchiri, Richard Ramoya Abudo, Alexander Gitau Gikonyo, Stephen Maina and George Achieng’ Tabitha.

Director of Criminal Investigations, George Kinoti, stated investigators believe Mwatha died at the facility before the body was transferred to City Mortuary on February 7, 2019.

“It is believed that an abortion procedure was procured by the owner of the clinic namely Betty Akinyi Nyanya and one purported Michael Onchiri alias Dr. Mike,” Kinoti cited.
