Damaged foetus inside activist Mwatha’s womb reveals excessive bleeding

Perharps the family will still be in denial and perhaps they will painfully accept the results that have come out of government pathologist autopsy on the body of Dandora’s activist Caroline Mwatha who was found dead at city mortuary after a week of disappearance.

Her controversial death caught the public eye and many fellow activists who after the police report of the cause ofthe lady’s death claimed foul.

However its been established that she indeed died from a botched abortion at Umash Funeral home, Nairobi on Thursday.

Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti said the failed abortion was conducted at New Njiru Community Centre by one “Dr” Michael Onchiri alias Dr Mike and the owner of the clinic Betty Akinyi Nyanya alias Betty Ramoya.

“Investigators believe that Caroline died in the clinic and the body was transferred to the Nairobi City Mortuary on February 7 at 4:42 am,” Kinoti said.

A source that witnessed the autopsy said the male foetus was still inside the womb.

“The uterus was raptured, causing over a litre of blood getting into the abdomen. Arms and the legs of the foetus are damaged,” he said.

He said the head of the foetus is partly damaged and the body is pale white, signifying excessive loss of blood.

Earlier on chaos erupted on Mbagathi Way on Thursday afternoon after a police vehicle hit an activist while transferring Caroline Mwatha Ochieng’s body from City Mortuary to Umash Funeral Home.

The government had proposed to defer the postmortem to Monday but Mwatha’s family a were uncomfortable the developments.

This led to the proposal to move the body to a private facility where the autopsy operation could be conducted.
