It happens that Bahati, a popular gospel artist, is in a huge debt and has been weighing him down. However, his calvary seems to have arrived through a Sweden-based Kenyan music promoter.

Onyango, the promoter has pleaded with his countrymen to assist him raise funds aimed at getting the gospel singer. He has worked with Bahati in the recent past and suffered big time over breached agreement urged Kenyans to donate towards a Go-Fund-Me account he set up with the aim of raising funds to pay everyone who the musician owes.

The promoter made this public through his social media pages as he shared links to the Go-Fund-Me account.

”We believe in forgiveness and we also believe that Baha is not capable of paying his debts and in order for him to move on from these scandals, I’m hereby requesting everyone to contribute in helping him clear his debts. The promoter assured Kenyans the monies collected would be used to clear Bahati’s debts as well as supporting upcoming gospel musicians.

”The rest of the money will support other upcoming gospel singers. Keep in mind no one is perfect. Lets do this and move on. Thanks in advance,” he said.

Onyango’s initiative came just days after Mr Seed accused Bahati of failing to remit money owed to him.

According to Mr Seed, who has since ditched Bahati’s label EMB Records, the singer did not pay him for his performance during the EMB End Of Year Party held in Thika. No sooner had Mr Seed’s claims subsided than yet another person emerged claiming Bahati owed him monies for services rendered and not paid for. M4J Official, a Kenyan designer, claimed to have delivered merchandise to Bahati years ago and has not received payment to date. Bahati on the other neither denied nor admitted owing anyone money. It is not yet clear whether Onyango’s plan to crowd source for Bahati was genuine or was just meant to spite and embarrass the gospel star.
