The State House Director of Brand Strategy and Events Big Ted has today given an update in regard to the planned presidential meeting with Kenyan Artists.
During the burial of the late Bruce Odhiambo, Kenyatta called upon the Event Boss to organize a meeting between him and Kenyan artists.
This move came after Kenyan musicians had a conversation on the Play Kenyan Music and demanded more airplay for even upcoming artists.
Big Ted said that for the creative economy, the President’s invitation signals the first of a thousand steps towards bringing order, sanity and justice to the hundreds thousands of Kenyans who earn and erk a living off this industry.
He also gave an update that the meet up process was initiated and what Kenyans need to look forward to is the adoption of a Memoranda meeting, publishing of Memoranda into report and a presidential creative economy round table meeting.
“The process began with a setting up of a small internal internal committee to create a framework for the industry engagements and an M&E system to feedback to His Excellency the President ,this was followed by Public participation execise which was attended by over 40 Creative Economy associations and groups who presented various sector memoranda to be compiled into a report which shall form the state of the industry report to be discussed at the PRESIDENTIAL CREATIVE ECONOMY ROUNDTABLE at STATEHOUSE within 100 days.” he stated in his post
Although the changes will not come immediately, there is hope that there will be a transformation in the creative industry.
Big Ted says that he promised the President a organised well researched and articulate issue based meeting with no side shows and this is set to happen soon.
The Event boss also added that sometimes people are more interested in touring the State House instead of focusing on the main agenda but he hope’s that this will be fruitful.
This meet up will go a long way in ensuring that the challenges of the artists are addressed and the team will agree on lasting solutions to their needs.
