Ngilu the only Kenyan politician in high powered delegation lands in Nigeria

Flying women’s flag high,Governor Charity Ngilu who was selected in a delegation of 38 members to oversee elections in Nigeria as an observer on February 16, 2019 has landed in the country ahead of the proceure.

They are serving under the American based National Democratic Institute (NDI) and the International Republic Institute (IRI), which is steered by former Botswana President Festus Mogae.

According to a statement issued by the Governor’s office, Ngilu was selected following her political career that has seen her rise to become the senior-most female political leader in the country, having served in various elective capacities.

“Governor Ngilu has been a public servant for more than 27 years, as Member of Parliament for Kitui Central Constituency for four consecutive terms, from 1992 to 2013, and as a Cabinet secretary in the national government of from 2002 to 2015,”the statement read.

The county boss left Kenya for Nigeria on Sunday, and on Wednesday (today), she is set to attend the ceremony for the signing of the National Peace Accord between the leading candidates – President Muhammadu Buharu and his main rival former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Nigeria’s pre-election political temperatures have been charged up following the suspension of Chief Justice Walter Onnoghen three weeks ago.

The CJ’s suspension triggered protests from opposition parties as he plays a vital role of settling election disputes.
