A report by UK based paper The Guardian, reveals a murkier side of the Ebola crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The report alleges that aid workers deployed in the region are asking for sexual favors in exchange of treatment and the administering of the life saving Ebola vaccine.
The allegations surface days after the DRC Minister for Health, Oly Ilunga Kalenga announced that the vaccination is a success having prevented thousands of deaths, and containing the spread of the fatal disease.
The allegations were raised just as health officials gathered for a national task force meeting in the city of Beni, being informed of the widespread mistrust in health workers in the DRC.
