Food disagreement  has landed  a middle-aged woman from Rurii Village in Ol Kalou, Nyandarua County at JM Memorial Hospital after she was assaulted by her husband.

The mother-of-two was allegedly beaten up by her husband after she prepared eight chapatis from half a kilogram of wheat flour on Tuesday.

Her husband expected 20 chapatis to be processed from the half a kg bag of flour.

Neighbours, however, reveal that the suspect had developed a habit of assaulting his wife over food.

“Sometime back, the suspect went home with three avocados. His wife and children ate one. When the man realised that one of his fruits had been eaten, he mercilessly beat up his spouse. The second time, he came home with matumbobought at Ksh50″.

Adding that “He beat up the woman on claims that the matumbodid not have soup. And most recently, he beat her up over claims that the flour he bought should have produced 20 chapatis and not 8,” said the couple’s neighbour.

The victim, who is pregnant, sustained injuries to her body, and remains unconscious in hospital.

The suspect, who neighbours claim is addicted to alcohol, is being detained at Ol Kalou Police Station as investigations into the incident continue.
