Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has denied claims that he is facing a political rebellion in Ukambani.Kalonzo said having two governors from the region eyeing the presidency in 2022 polls is no rebellion.
He said everyone has the democratic right to vie for any seat he or she wishes.
“Both Mutua and Kibwana want to vie for the presidency in 2022 just like me, I have no problem with that and that is no rebellion at all. They are exercising their democratic right,” Kalonzo said.
Kalonzo spoke during a live interview at a local Television on Tuesday.
He said governors Mutua, Kibwana and their Kitui counterpart Charity Ngilu can do whatever they wish.
Kalonzo disclosed that he did not expect the trio to attend the Kamba Leaders Convention at Kiamba primary school in Matungulu, Machakos County last Friday.
The former Vice President claimed that the media misquoted him during the meeting.
He said he doesn’t support the extension of President’s time limit in office as was reported on a section of the media.”I would be out of my mind to support the removal of presidential limit. All I meant was that if there is a referendum and Uhuru wishes to take position of the Prime Minister after 2022, I would support him,” Kalonzo said.Kalonzo said President Uhuru Kenyatta’s relentless fight against corruption has earned him respect.
He reiterated that he is still interested in vying for the presidency in 2022.
