Many are times citizens are furious with the politicians they voted in for they never help them at all. The poor voters are left to use poor conditioned roads, no health facilities, no electricity, no water as the politicians live in lavish lives.
Residents in Marsabit are now tired of crying to the politicians who never hear neither answer their pleas. Local leaders called the locals for a meeting to drum up support to establish a municipality in the county but they were in for a surprise when the locals showed up with bottles of muddy water and placed them on the “high table” where the dignitaries were to occupy during the meeting.
This was not disrespect, it was a protest served cold. The locals said they had decided on the move as a way of showing their displeasure on water contamination and shortage in the area. ”Our problem is water, not a municipality,” they emphasized.
This comes after at least 100 camels died in the same county after drinking contaminated water, plunging the entire village into mourning. The camels are said to have drank from an abandoned well. The deaths left residents in the entire village grief stricken, because camels are a lifeline to them.
Its high time leaders listen to the people pleas for its not fair that they will only come back to the people when they are asking to be voted in again. Marsabit residents using dirty water put their lives at risk of getting sick or dying just as the camels for they will not know which water is contaminated and that which is not contaminated.
