Pregnant woman meets her death in a police-lorry chase

A Nakuru family is now mourning the death of a 25-year-old Eunice Maguke and her unborn child after she was crushed to death by a lorry that was trying to escape arrest  in Nakuru.

According to eyewitnesses, the lorry driver was ferrying soil when it rammed into her stall at Kabachi area when it instantly knocked her down to death.

Gladys Nekesa, who runs an adjacent kiosk recalled the incident, “I saw a lorry speeding towards our kiosks, and within seconds, screams filled the air and the next minutes, I saw Maguke’s body.The driver of the lorry tried escaping before boda boda riders intercepted him and beat him up. He was rushed to a local hospital,” Ms Gladys Nekesa, who owns an adjacent kiosk told Media.

“I saw the police vehicle make a u-turn after they realized the lorry had been  involved in an accident.It is not clear where the lorry was heading to with the construction material,” said another resident  resident who sought anonymity.

The eyewitnesses say that, the body was picked to  Nakuru War Memorial hospital after staying at the scene for around 30 minutes.

The family of the deceased is now demanding for justice for their kin. Mr Walter Oginga , husband to the deceased adding that, the vehicle was fleeing a police dragnet, before it caused the accident before killing her kin in her line of duty.

Residents have called upon the county government to put road bumps in the area.
