Days after Dandora human rights activist went missing, Officers from the office of the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have traced Caroline Mwatha’s phone to Buruburu Estate Nairobi County.

Mwatha who went missing on Wednesday, February 6, is said to have last spoken to her colleagues and husband, Joshua Ochieng, on Tuesday, February 5.

According to a report by K24, Mwatha’s husband claimed she went missing after dropping their daughter to school on the fateful day. Ochieng, who is said to be a trader in Dubai, flew back into the country on Sunday, February 10, after it was confirmed his wife of 20 years was missing.

“We were chatting almost the whole night on Wednesday. On Thursday morning, she texted me good morning but due to the time difference, I responded late,” he said.

“I called her many times when I woke up, but she was not picking. I thought it was normal because it was a working day. I assumed she was holed up in meetings as her job is demanding,” Ochieng’ narrated.

He however assumed her silence was as a result of her busy schedule but was alarmed later after realising she had not returned his calls nor replied to his messages.
