Ngilu makes unexpected remarks about Kalonzo’s presidential bid.

Kitui governor Carity Ngilu has been among the recent passionate and most vicious critics of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s 2022 presidential ambitions.

The governor, alongside her two other Ukambani counterparts Alfred Mutua (Machakos) and Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni), had vowed to frustrate Musyoka’s presidential ambitions accusing him of having done little to the people of Ukambani despite being in government for many years.

However, On Sunday February 10, Ngilu appeared to soften her stand with regard to Kalonzo’s political ambtions saying that she was ready to support him for the top seat in 2022.

She called upon Ukambani people to register in large numbers so that they can have suffient votes in their basket to deliver to Kalonzo come 2022. She also challenged the former vice president to work on his ambitions even as he expects support from his backyard.

“For now let’s not lie to Kalonzo. We don’t have numbers. When we will have the numbers, I will hold his hand and take him to Uhuru and Raila. But for now up your game,” she said.

Ngilu was speaking during a funeral service at Kiunduani, Makindu in Makueni county on Sunday. The funeral was also attended by Kalonzo who distanced himself reports indicating that he is in support of president Uhuru Kenyatta’s third term presidential bid.

Musyoka also seized the opportunity to clarify to the people of Ukambani that he was not in conflict with the local leaders and that he was ready to work with all of them for the purposes of development and growth of the region.
