NASA MPs put DP Ruto on the sword over his referendum stand.

A section of NASA MPs have sharply criticised Deputy Presdent William Ruto over his anti-referendum remarks he made during the Chatham house address.

Lead by Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo and his ANC’s counterpart Geoffrey Osotsi, the leaders castigated Ruto for what they termed as being the champion of ‘ant-inclusivity’ and enemy of unity in the country.

Otiende asked DP Ruto to desist from making unfounded remarks that only aim at serving his 2022 political interests at the expense of over 40 million other Kenyans. He added that the DP’s objection to the referendum was based on personal stand and not the cost of the exercise.

During his address in London, Ruto suggested that the country did not have the financial capacity to carry out a referendum, boundary review, and a subsquent general elections in a span of less than three years.

“Do we ave the resources to do the census this year, a boundary review next year, an election in 2022 and a referendum in between? Posed Ruto during his Chatham address.

His sentiments attracted immidaite response from majority of NASA MPs who bashed the off terming them evasive tactics. ODM chairman John Mbadi accused Ruto of being out of touch with the reality in the country and being blinded with his own political ambitions.

ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna also too issue with Ruto’s stand saying the DP is opposed to referendum because of his nature of thriving in “politics of division.”‘

Ruto has however said that he is not bothered by the dissenting voices adding that the leaders were free to express their vews freely since Kenya is a democratic country.
