Jeremiah Kioni Does Not Support Kalonzo’s Comment to Allow Uhuru Kenyatta A Third Presidential Term!

For the past 25 to 30 years, Kenyans have grown accustomed to the presidential term being 5 years, with the president only able to serve two terms.

With a referendum seeming all the more inevitable, supporters of president Kenya have taken to the podium to voice their support.

With some of them calling for the presidential term limits to be abolished so that the president can run for a consecutive third term!

Indeed, these were the words echoed on Friday last week by party leader of the Wiper Democratic Movement, Kalonzo Musyoka.

He called for the removal of the presidential term limits, paving way for Uhuru Kenyatta to run for a consecutive term in 2022!

Nevertheless, in a rare turn of events, one of the top central MPs in Kenya, a popular stronghold for the president, dismissed Mr Musyoka’s comments.

Ndaragwa Mp Jeremiah Kioni stated that the president shouldn’t be awarded a third term because he might be “too tired to deliver.”

These were the sentiments he expressed while undertaking an interview with NTV on Sunday last night.

According to Ndaragwa, it can be quite difficult for the president to execute a credible agenda after 10 years because once you have used up all your energy, you are less likely to be useful to the people around you.

Additionally, the lawmaker also touched on a number of key incidents, as well as commenting on the massive plunder of resources at both the County and National levels of government.

Indeed, he believes that the problem of uncalled for duplication roles in government offices should be an issue to be countered in forthcoming elections.

Kioni, who was the 2013 vice presidential candidate for Amani National Congress (ANC) alongside party chairman Musalia Mudavadi, says that he will only support constitutional changes if they are geared at bearing the massive burdens that the taxpayer currently faces.
