these touts will kill you if you are suffering from motion sickness

Nairobi matatus have all sort of dramas, majors ones being those caused by the touts. Most of the touts here are known of being rude to the passengers but always find themselves in hot soup if an assaulted passenger sues them.

Edward Riechi explains how he escaped death by a whisker after he was allegedly pushed by Tobias Wambua and Kenneth Njoroge from a speeding matatu after vomiting in the vehicle. He has sued the two conductors who are now facing attempted murder charges.

The incident occurred along Councillor Opondo Road, Nairobi. Police records indicate that on that day, Riechi was heading home from hospital when he boarded the Dandora matatu. Riechi, who was unwell, started vomiting inside the matatu, provoking the conductors, who started insulting him.

The angry passengers on board forced the driver to stop the vehicle and rush Riechi to hospital before reporting the mater to the police. The two were later arrested but they denied the charges in court. They were set free on Sh200,000 personal bond each. The matter will be heard on May 22nd.

Vomiting in vehicles is normal because there are people who suffer from motion sickness which is  the feeling you get when the motion you sense with your inner ear is different from the motion you visualize. It is a common condition that occurs in some people who travel by car, train, airplane, or boat. Many people suffer from this condition if they ride on a roller coaster or other similar amusement park rides. It progresses from a feeling of uneasiness to sweating or dizziness which is quickly followed by  nausea and vomiting.

Treatment for motion sickness can consist of medical treatment, simple changes in the environment for example, sitting by the open window of a car, eating light meals or snacks 24 hours before traveling, avoiding high fat content meals and over the counter medications and for some people, home remedies may be effective; ginger, peppermint, lemon, pineapple, oranges and tea. Some patients respond well to biofeedback training and relaxation techniques.

If you suffer from motion sickness, be on the look out or else the touts will throw you out of a speeding vehicle.
