To the Highest Court in the Land Awiti takes his fate there

With the Supreme Court set to make its ruling today regarding Homabay Governer, Cyprian Awiti, residents from Homabay County are keenly following the proceedings live on media platforms.

This follows after lower courts quashed the Governor’s win and he decided to take it to the Supreme Court to maybe get a different ruling. The petition challenging the election of Awiti, popularly known as Akuba, was filed in September 2017 by former Kasipul MP Oyugi Magwanga. The suit challenging his election originated from the High Court and headed to the Appellate court. Both rulings nullified his victory in the August 8, 2017 race. Three judges at the Court of Appeal upheld an earlier decision by High Court judge Joseph Karanja. Justices Fatuma Sichale, Otieno Odek, and Philip Waki cited poll malpractices in the ruling issued on July 19, 2018.

Citizens on twitter are all a buzz and most of them are hoping for the same ruling as the lower courts gave.
