Manchester United defender Ashley Young is expected to sign a new one-year contract within the next few days.
Sky Sports News reports that the veteran player, 33, will put pen-to-paper and extend his stay at Old Trafford, having first arrived back in 2011 from Aston Villa for £17million.
In that time Young has lifted the Premier League title, FA Cup, Europa League, League Cup, and Community Shield, scoring 17 goals in 227 matches for the Red Devils.
Young, whose new deal could be worth £110,000 a week, has made 25 appearances for United this season in all competitions, featuring in nine of the 10 games under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – only missing the 2-0 victory at Newcastle.
It’s fair to say the reaction to the news has been somewhat mixed, with a minority of fans backing the decision to hand Young a new deal as his leadership qualities are good for the dressing room.
Tell me what’s worse than Ashley Young attempting to cross?

Why are we giving Ashley Young a new contract..?? Surely we could of saved over £100,000 a week and spent that on another players wages, he’s been a good servant for the club but he’s 33 / 34 years old.. I thought we were making the right moves when Fellaini left.. #MUFC_FAMILY
