Is honesty really the best policy?? #ILoveYouBut

Valentine’s season. Where couples bloom, MCMs and WCWs finally come to the light… Where we finally put a face to people’s  videos and pictures showing their partner’s every other part of the body except the face.

Its a season of romance; love. An with it comes heartfelt messages and gifts from partners, spouses, fiance’s and so on and so forth. People will pour out their hearts to others in a bid to woo them if they haven’t already been swept of their feet already, or to remind them of their affection towards each other.

But are they really being honest?

In the Twitter hashtag currently doing rounds, prompted by Taxify, many have decided to completely let their partners know of their real feelings towards them and some of their actions or beliefs. Although most are tapping into serious issues such as social media influence between partners, other Kenyans have turned it into a laughing matter where they mention things that do not necessarily pertain to anyone, as it is just but wishful thinking.

However, the hashtag sparks up a conversation where we are left to wonder, just how much is too much when it comes to a relationship?

Most of the serious tweets with the hashtag have to do with complains of people’s partners and their hygiene, health, communication skills, generally their way of living and from a relationship perspective where people have to tolerate some behaviors in the relationship. The hashtag begs to question how much we tolerate our significant others (if any) and why we do it.

The philosophy that states that for a relationship to work, the two parties involved should be able to tolerate things they are normally not comfortable with gives some perspective to the matter at hand. Is it worth it though? You tell me.

But according to the source of the hashtag, it could be. Because by being honest with your partner and the general public, you could be invited to a special Valentine’s dinner courtesy of Taxify Kenya.
