CS Matiang’i issues tough warning his non-performing colleagues

The super powerful Cabinet Secretary , Fred Matiangi’ has issued tough warned his colleagues to either resign or deliver on the mandate given to them by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

While chairing the National Development Implementation and Communication Cabinet Committee, the no-nonsense CS said there was no room for failure in President Kenyatta’s administration.

Local media including the People Daily and the Standard quoted their sources indicating that Matiang’i had raised concern over stalling of government projects under the hands of unscrupulous contractors.

The meeting started at 7.30 am and went on for five hours and resolved that all CS should submit a list of the projects that should be completed in the next three months.

They were also asked to hand over a list of the irregular contracts that will need to be probed by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

The Interior CS is further said to have said contractors who have been unable to complete projects after paying bribes to government officials will be given the option of exposing the culprits or face the DCI.

His tough message appeared to have been buoyed by President Kenyatta’s message last week where he warned CSs who were not willing to work under Matiang’i to resign or be sacked.

The head of state granted the Interior CS extra powers after signing Executive Order 1 of 2019.
