Couple remanded at GK prison for the murder of student dumped in fish pond

A couple was on Tuesday arraigned at the Kisii High Court and charged with the murder a Form Four girl in Kenyenya Sub-county, Kisii County.

Laban Nyaata Samuel and Nancy Bochere Samuel appeared before Judge David Majanja where they pleaded not guilty to the charge of murder.

The two were charged that on the night of September 23 and 24, 2018 at Mariba village, within Kisii County, jointly with others not before court, murdered Alvinah Nyabuari Moracha.

Justice Majanja directed that the accused be remanded at the Kisii GK Prison until February 26, 2019 when he will give a ruling on their bond application.

The body of Alvinah Moracha, who was 17 years old at the time of her death, was found dumped in a fish pond less than a kilometre from their home at Mariba
