Sergio Aguero netted yet another Premier League hat-trick on Sunday against Arsenal, and is now just one off the legendary Alan Shearer’s record.
Manchester City got back to winning ways in impressive fashion, with a 3-1 win over Unai Emery‘s side.
Aguero scored all three goals, his second treble of the campaign after managing the same feat in a 6-1 win over Huddersfield Town.
He now has ten hat-tricks in total, which is just one less than Shearer, the former Newcastle United and England striker.
Alan Shearer –> 11
Sergio Aguero –> 10
Robbie Fowler –> 9
Thierry Henry –> 8
Harry Kane –> 8
Michael Owen –> 8
Wayne Rooney –> 7
Luis Suarez –> 6
Shearer concedes that his record will not much last longer.
“He was at his best against Arsenal,” he told The Sun.
“He has ten already.
“It is just a matter of time before he overtakes me,” said Shearer.
Aguero on the other hand, wanted the focus to be elsewhere.
“It is nice to be on ten hat-tricks.
“But the most important thing is to win,” he said.
“The other day I scored after 25 seconds and we lost,” Aguero stated.
The Argentine became the first City player to score a hat-trick against The Gunners since Tommy Browell did so in 1920.
