The Liverpool and England defender expects to play again this season but he could be out for up to six weeks, which would rule him out of huge games against Manchester United, Everton and the Champions League double header against Bayern Munich as well as putting a question over his chances of being picked for the next England squad.

Gomez suffered the injury to his right leg on December 5, following a clash with Burnley defender Ben Mee, and it was originally anticipated that he would be out for six week.
The 21-year-Old started running again at the beginning of January but the rehabilitation process slowed down and after consultation with Liverpool’s medical department, an operation was deemed the only suitable option. He will have the procedure in London today.
