Dennis Oliech 90th minute goal in splendid fashion confirms Gor Mahia victory

Dennis Oliech snatched a dramatic last-gasp 4-2 win for Gor Mahial over Egyptian giants Zamalek in the in the opening Group D game at Kasarani.

The Legendary Gor Mahia forward Dennis Oliech rose off the bench to aid the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions to a comfortable 4 – 2 win over Egyptian giants Zamalek at the Moi International Sports Center (MISC) Kasarani on Sunday 3 February.

Oliech’s goal came at the tail end of an impressive showing by K’Ogalo, who had to recover from early concession after Hassan Ibrahim’s seventh minute opener for the Egyptians.

Tuyisenge’s show

Rwandan international Jacques Tuyisenge restored parity with a 25th minute goal after picked a great pass from Francis Kahata and he completed his brace in the 38th minute.

While Gor Mahia thought they would be heading to the break leading, Hassan had other plans and just on the stroke of half time, he slotted home his second of the afternoon to see the sides head down the tunnel at 2 – 2.

Kipkirui goal

However, parity lasted just six minutes after the break. Tuyisenge, a thorn in the Egyptians’ flesh had a big hand in the third goal for Gor Mahia as he lifted in a cross for Nicholas Kipkirui to head home and once again give Gor the lead.

However, Kipkirui would be withdrawn injured 15 minutes later and in came the legend, Dennis Oliech.

Oliech’s moment

Oliech had a couple of threats that had Zamalek on the edge before getting his big chance in the 90th minute and did just fine to round the keeper and score Gor Mahia’s fourth, which also confirmed K’Ogalo’s place at the summit of Group D, at least until NA Hussein Dey of Algeria hosts Angola’s Petro de Luanda at 10pm EAT.
