A common belief among several African communities holds that the first wife is the true one with the rest as additives. True to this saying, Kori’s first wife vows to stand with him.
Joseph Kori Karue, the man, believed to be a husband of the slain Mary Wambui Kamagara was a serial lover, hopping from woman to woman.
Kori and his mistress Judy Wangui are now the prime suspects in the ongoing case and are helping sleuths to conduct investigations.
Fresh details surrounding the murder have emerged with Kori’s first wife as the newest entrant into the plot.
Unlike the other women in the scandal, the first wife by the name Grace Wanjiku Kariuki seems to know more colors of the estranged Kori.
Their relationship dates back from 2010 and in the simplest of life.
Kori and Wanjiku met in Kayole over 12years ago where they started together from scratch to build a business empire whose success brought the other women aboard.
It was still in Kayole were the settled as man and wife, living in a single room with Sh1500 as the monthly rent.
Wanjiku first met Kori as a rice trader while she ran a clothes business. She was later to leave her business and Join Kori’s.
Kori used to buy Rice from the paddy plains of Mwea to later sell it to retailers. When Wanjiku joined the business, it grew steadily.
Step by step, the couple expanded their rice business and the later diversified to lumbering through help from Kori’s aunt. By that time, they had over Sh100,000 in savings which the put in the timber business.
In 2008, Kori approached Wanjiku’s parents to ask for their daughters’ hand in marriage, and the wish was granted.
Wanjiku reports that as a married couple, the two always solved their marriage problems wisely.
Through hard work, love, and resilience, their family grew, and their business expanded in profits and human resource.
As money flowed into their way, Kori started seeing more beautiful women. At that time, Wanjiku had borne her a daughter.
While Wanjiku was nursing a newborn, Kori was seducing a new lover as the wife came to know.
The new lover is the slain Mary Wambui as was initially introduced to Wanjiku by Kori as a business partner, and who had landed the couple into lucrative contracts.
Wanjiku believed Kori’s fairy tale and so she stopped questioning her husband’s conversation with Wambui.
On the fourth Sunday of October in 2010 Kori left Wanjiku to live with Wambui.
Eight years later, what Wanjiku sees of her ‘run away husband’ is a prime suspect in the murder of their ‘timber contract person’ Mary Wambui Kamagara.
Even with that Wanjiku has vowed to stand with her lost lover Joseph Kori.
