Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has today challenged the  youth to be creative and  all ways and aggressive in  looking for job as well as developing the city.

The governor gave an example of Elroi Children’s Home who have come up with a creative way to take care of the environment via the Nairobi City County Solid Waste Management Program, whereby they collect waste materials like paper, banana fibres, sukuma wiki, saw dust and any other kind of dry waste during the monthly clean-ups and burn it up and use it as the raw material to make BRIQUETTE (coal), that lasts three times longer than normal charcoal.

They then sell and use the money collected to sustain the Children’s Home.

As the government strives to create job opportunities, Sonko said that they youth can as well create job opportunities for themselves and their respective Youth and Women Groups.

“Our county is rich in so many ways, and recycling is one rich sector. Let us be creative, help ourselves and families as we wait the government to do the same.” he said

He also  urged all youths and SMEs in Nairobi to observe cleanliness in the environment, plant trees, as well as engage in environment friendly business activities that include recycling of waste products.
