2022may seemfar but those more than eager for the contest know that a good strategy must play for grabbing of victory, reason why many are not backing nor shying away from politicking over the issue as early as now.

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s ally David Murathe has pulled another shocking stunt in retaliation to enmy Ruto, this time saying that nothing stops the head of state from being a running mate to any presidential candidate in the 2022 presidential poll.

The former Jubilee Party Vice Chairman who has vowed to block Deputy President William Ruto from ascending into power in 2022 spoke during a consultative meeting in Yatta, Machakos County on Wednesday organised by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, a forum which was characterised by undertones that the president’s camp has roped in the former Vice President in its political equation in the next election.

“The constitution stipulates that the president cannot run for more than two terms. It also says that the Deputy President cannot run for more than two terms but now they (DP Ruto’s camp) are saying that he can run for president. If that’s their position what’s stopping the president from being Deputy President,” Murathe posed to the leaders gathered at the meeting amid cheers.

Murathe who relinquished his position in the ruling party three weeks ago after his remarks caused a political storm hinted at the formation of a coalition government.

Mr Ruto’s allies dismissed former Jubilee Party vice chairman David Murathe as a political broker whose views did not represent the party position in the latest wave of political play revolving around the 2022 succession.

The angry responses came a day after Mr Murathe, vowed to seek a Supreme Court interpretation on the eligibility of Ruto to vie for president.

Do you think the president would agree to be a deputy president after being the president already?
