Sonko Faces a Backlash From Kenyans On His Methods of Dealing With Perennial Con Artistes

Has someone ever used your credentials to con others? How did you react?

Well, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has his own methods of dealing with con artistes, methods that seem to not go well with a number of Kenyans.

Sonko has time and again posted warnings to con artists impersonating him using fake social media accounts.

In his latest Facebook post on Thursday, Sonko said con artists operate websites and parody accounts after lifting photos from his verified page.

“It has come to my attention that a highly digital group of conmen operating under Sonko Rescue Team Kenya has been conning unsuspecting Kenyans of their hard earned money. They are operating a Website, Facebook Page which is sponsored to reach more followers. They also lift photos from the Governor’s Facebook and use them in their con game.

According to information gathered so far, Terrorist/ CONMEN using +254798888963 are lying that Sonko Rescue team is recruiting 450 county representatives from all the 47 counties and u will be paid 72,400 be aware those are CONMEN and ignore them and don’t go to the venue located attached.

Some are also requesting for a non-refundable registration fee of Sh. 300, they pretend to offer loans, motorbikes and school fees vouchers.

They further claim that through Equity Bank and Safaricom, registered members can borrow between Sh1,000 and a maximum Sh50,000. Their M-PESA number is 0715721394.

I wish to take this opportunity to warn Kenyans to watch out and never to send any money to these conmen. In any case you are approached, please report to the police or CID or to my office for quick action.

“I wish to take this opportunity to warn Kenyans to watch out and never send any money to these conmen. In any case you are approached, please report to the police or CID or to my office for quick action.” Posted Sonko on his Facebook Page.

However, his update did not go down well with Kenyans.

Many are now fed up of these updates from Sonko and are of the view that he should use his personal resources to clamp down on these cartels.
