Oparanya leads CoG new leadership in meeting Ruto

Deputy President Dr William Samoei Ruto on Tuesday met the new leadership of the Council of Governors. Led by the council’s new chair Kakamega governor Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya and his deputy Murang’a governor Mwangi Wa Iria, the DP was briefed on the operations of the council.

In the meeting, they discussed its operations and continued collaboration under the Intergovernmental Budget and Economic Council (IBEC) framework.

The meeting was held in Karen, Nairobi.

Through his official twitter account, DP Ruto shared the information about the meeting.

“Received a brief from the new leadership of The Council of Governors (COG); discussed its operations and continued collaboration under the Intergovernmental Budget and Economic Council (IBEC) framework, Karen, Nairobi County,” read his post.

Oparanya succeeded Turkana governor Josphat Nanok after winning the hotly contested Council of governors polls held last week.

He is now the fourth Council of governors chairman after former Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto (2013-2015), former Meru governor Peter Munya (2015-2017) and Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok (2017-2019).
