Governor Joho kicks off initiative to boost local revenues in Mombasa County

Governor Ali Hassan Joho has revealed his plan to raise the local revenue of Mombasa County.

In recognition of the importance of revenue in supporting County development, interdepartmental officers from Mombasa County have kicked off this year’s Rapid Results Initiative (RRI) exercise with messages of encouragement to traders, land owners and the general public to commence annual payments for their rates and permits.

This initiative was done through door to door visits at various business premises across the six Sub-Counties in Mombasa County.

The teams being led by officers from , and checked the status of different permits and buildings as they encouraged owners who had not renewed their licenses to do so soonest in order to avoid attracting penalties and arrests.

Among permits that are being checked include Single Business Permit, Hotel levies, Liquor license, land rates, advertisements, billboards, health certificates, petrol stations and way leaves.

The County is targeting to raise local revenue in order to increase services to its residents and to ensure those that are ongoing are not disrupted.

Apart from this initiative, Mombasa has been leading the charts in the tourism sector which is also a great investment in the county.

The Governor has also assured full utilization of resources in order to ensure that the counties income raises above the graph of previous years.
