TSC CEO Nancy Macharia announced on Tuesday that the recruitment will begin at the end of January. The announcement came shortly after a meeting with AU envoy Raila Odinga at his Capital Hill Office. It is not yet clear if the two discussed the matter of hiring teachers.

But Raila could have just helped create 5,000 jobs for jobless youth. Isn’t that great news ODM followers? On Monday, Education CS Amina Mohamed indicated that the Form One transition this year stands at 83 per cent.

Speaking at St Marys Secondary School in Nakuru, the CS exuded confidence that the remaining 17 per cent would be achieved in the next one month.

CS Amina further noted that the government, through her ministry, was working tirelessly to improve infrastructure hence decongesting classes in the advent of the new directive.

“The government will have to increase classes in public secondary schools to accommodate the large numbers,” she added.
