Did Central Kenya betray the Luhyia Nation and Musalia Mudavadi in 2013?

En route to the 2013 General elections, there were reports of an apparent pact between ANC Party leader Musalia Mudavadi and TNA’s Uhuru Kenyatta.

In the alleged pact, Uhuru was to step down in favour of Musalia Mudavadi as the ICC cases on his neck had apparently taken a toll on him. This was not to be as Uhuru later bounced back from what he alleged was a confusion by the devil.

Mudavadi and the Luhyia Nation felt betrayed and it now happens that some leaders from the region have never forgotten what transpired in the Year.

Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali has asked Central Kenya leaders to apologise for ‘short-changing’ Mudavadi in 2013, even after reaching such an agreement at Grand Regency Hotel.

“We were at Grand regency signing an agreement over this matter but it still disturbs us that the running mate you gave our son also never voted for him,” he said.

He however asked Mudavadi to start holding serious meeting with Western leaders so as to be able to convince anyone again. He took issue with those seeking the top seat from the region saying presenting their issues in burial services was in itself wrong but instead they should organize meeting with leaders at a designated point to discuss their future.

“Don’t wait for us in funerals to tell us how you want power but instead what you should be doing is to call us at a designated venue to discuss your position,” he said.

On his part, Navakholo MP Emmanuel Wangwe  asked Mudavadi to repackage himself for national politics.

Wangwe while addressing at Eregi Grounds in a burial service, asked ANC leader to repackage himself differently to take another stab at the Presidency.

He pointed out that it would not be easy to make it without making friends with like-minded leaders and asked him to work with Governor Oparanya so that one of them can remain standing for the 2022 race.

He said just like in 2013 he was again ready to support him for the top seat if he heeded the advice and changed his way of doing things.

“I am already in Government and for me to move to your camp you have to convince me that you are better than this,” said Wangwe.
