Manchester United boss makes big claim about in-form Marcus Rashford amid Harry Kane’s injury

Manchester United’s interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Harry Kane is the best striker in the Premier League.

Kane, 25, was dealt a blow this week when tests confirmed he had damaged ligaments in his ankle and would be out of action until early March.

It almost finishes the Spurs striker’s participation in the golden boot race, and in the eyes of Solskjaer gives Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford the chance to steal his spot at the top.

“You can argue for many strikers but I’m glad he’s in my team,” Solskjaer said, speaking after Manchester United’s 2-1 win against Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford.

“Harry Kane’s injured, so maybe that gives him the best chance to be the best one at the moment.

“No one beats him on work-rate, no one beats him on attitude and he’s very confident in front of goal at the moment, he finishes, tries to shoot, he doesn’t think twice about it, he made the chance for Jesse [Lingard], I cannot believe how Jesse didn’t score on that chance at the back post! So I think he’s playing the best football in his career.”

Rashford has been in sensational form under Solskjaer, netting five goals in six starts under Solskjaer as well as back-to-back match winners against Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton and Hove Albion.
