Tottenham speak out on speculations to replace injured Harry Kane

Mauricio Pochettino has discussed Tottenham’s options with regards to replacing Harry Kane.

Tottenham confirmed that they would be without Kane for around two months after the striker injured his ankle ligaments in the defeat to Manchester United.

The north London club have a number of options open to them, with Lucas Moura, Dele Alli and Erik Lamela potentially being pushed up further.

Fernando Llorente could also be a straight replacement for Kane, or the club could move for someone in the transfer market.

But Pochettino insists Kane’s injury will not force them into signing anyone.

“It is not going to change our mind,” he said. “We are open to adding to our squad but that is not going to put pressure on us to sign.

“The market is very difficult. If we find the player that is going to help us and add quality we are more than open to make that happen. At the minute there is no player.

“We are going to see the time it takes to have the full recovery. Harry is a very positive person, the moment he got injured he started thinking about recovering as soon as possible.

“When he is one of the best strikers in Europe it is going to affect performances. We are positive we can cope and we have players who can cover his position. It won’t affect our approach to the games.”

Pochettino then ruled Tottenham out of a move for Giuseppe Rossi, who hadn’t even been linked to them.

“There are many names that appear in every transfer window,” he said.

“He is another name to add to the list. It is a rumour and we are not considering him.”
